Turnitin Direct -- Grading

Instructions for Feedback Studio Method - Recommended

Written Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. In your Bb Learn course shell, click to expand "Grade Center" in the left navigation panel.
  2. Click "Full Grade Center."
  3. Look for the Turnitin Direct assignment's column.
  4. Hover your mouse pointer over a student's table cell containing an exclamation point.
    1. Do not manually type in a grade in the table cell. You'll enter a grade on the "feedback studio" webpage.
  5. Click the circled down arrow in the cell.
  6. Click "Attempt..."
    1. The 2 "Instructor Comments" sections, and the "Instructor Notes" section, on the "Submissions Inbox" webpage do NOT work.
  7. In the "Paper title / author" table, click the blue pencil in the student's row (in the checked page icon column).
    1. If regrading, click the blue hyperlinked number.
  8. In the new "feedback studio" tab that opens, click an area of the paper to add a comment.
  9. Only grade 1 student in this "feedback studio" tab.
    1. Do not grade another student yet.
  10. To hide all comments, click the blue stack of papers icon in the right panel (instructor feedback layer).
  11. To provide an overall comment, click the blue paper with pencil icon in the right panel.

    1. To show the sections of the paper that match other papers or sources:
      1. Click the lowest black stack of papers icon in the right panel (the similarity layer).
      2. The red number is the percentage of the paper that matches other papers or sources.
    2. To download the paper, click the download down arrow button in the right panel.
      1. Choose to down "Current View" or "Originally Submitted File."
      2. "Current View" provides comments and matches with other papers or other sources, as long as you have those showing in your current view of the paper.
      3. "Digital Receipt" is for students.

  12. Enter a number grade in the upper right.
    1. No decimal values allowed.
  13. Close the tab when finished grading this 1 student.
    1. Wait for "Submissions Inbox" tab to reload.
    2. This saves grade entries and changes.
  14. Repeat all of the above steps to grade another student (if you wish).

  6. Click "Attempt..."
    1. Do not enter a gradeĀ on the "feedback studio" webpage. You'll enter a gradeĀ manually through "Grade Center."
    2. The 2 "Instructor Comments" sections, and the "Instructor Notes" section, on the "Submissions Inbox" webpage do NOT work.
  7. In the "Part 1" table, under the "Export" column, click the blue "W" or Word doc icon.
    1. This downloads all submitted papers to your computer as a .zip file.
    2. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  8. Uncompress/unzip/extract the .zip file. Open each file. Add comments to each file.
  9. Return to "Full Grade Center.

    1. In your Bb Learn course shell, click to expand "Grade Center" in the left navigation panel.
    2. Click "Full Grade Center."
    3. Look for the Turnitin Direct assignment's column.

  10. Hover your mouse pointer over a student's table cell containing an exclamation point.
  11. Click the circled down arrow in the cell.
  12. Click "View Grade Details."
  13. Click "Edit Grade."
  14. Enter a numeric score in "Current Grade Value."
  15. Click the paperclip icon in the "Feedback to Learner" box.
    1. No paperclip icon? Click the double down arrow at the far right in that box's toolbar.
  16. Upload the student's graded paper with comments.
    1. Follow the onscreen instructions to do this.
  17. Enter additional text comments in the "Feedback to Learner" box (if you wish).
  18. Enter "Grading Notes" in the box provided (if you wish).
    1. Only instructors, teaching assistants, and graders see "Grading Notes." Students do not.
  19. Scroll down, and click "Save" (lower right).
  20. Click "Return to Grade Center" (lower right).
  21. Repeat steps 11-21 above to grade another student (if you wish).
