Outlook -- Create, Edit, or Delete Rules -- Mac
Introduction
For how to mark something as "Junk" or "Clutter" normally, see the following webpage.Here, we tell you how to use rules or filters to automatically move emails you want to keep but review later into an email folder.
That said, if you have something that you cannot mark as "Junk" or for the "Other" tab, rules or filters are useful.
Quickly Create a Rule
1. Control-click/right-click an email message in your Inbox or an email folder.2. Click "Create rule..."
3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Create, Edit, or Delete Rules -- Mac
1. Click "Home" in the upper left.
2. Click the "Rules" icon.
3. Click the "Edit Rules" option under the "Rules" icon.
4. Here you can add, edit, or delete Outlook email rules.
(a) Add a rule: Click the plus or + sign at the bottom.
(b) Edit a rule: Double-click an existing rule.
(c) Delete a rule: Click an existing rule, and click the minus or - sign at the bottom. Then click "Delete" to confirm your intent to delete the rule.
(d) Be sure you know what a rule does before editing or deleting it!!!!
(e) Click the "Save" disk icon to save your changes.


5. Follow the onscreen instructions to add or edit or delete a rule.
6. Here are some examples of rules that you can add.
(a) Note: specific words entered cover upper- and lowercase forms of that word.
(b) Example 1: Bb Learn student email rule: Click the link below to see instructions for how to add a rule where student emails from Bb Learn are moved out of your Inbox (without alerting) you to folder in Outlook, but student emails from Bb Learn with "911" (without quotes) in the subject code are still sent to your email inbox.
i. If the "Rules" window is open, close it.
ii. Click "Home" in the upper left.

iii. Create a new sub-folder: Right-click/control-click a folder in the left-hand panel, and select "New Folder."

iv. Type in "Bb Learn student emails" (without quotes), and press Enter/Return.
1. A "Bb Learn student emails" sub-folder should now appear.

v. Click the "Rules" icon.

vi. Click the "Edit Rules" option under the "Rules" icon.

vii. In the "Rules" window, enter "Bb Learn student emails" in the "Rule name" box in the "Rules" window.

viii. Under "When a new message arrives...", select "From" and "Is", and enter "reply_to_sender@drexel.edu" without quotes.

ix. Under "Do the following" window, select "Move to Folder" and from "None" select "Choose Folder..."

x. Type in "Bb Learn" (without quotes), select the "Bb Learn student emails" sub-folder, and click "Choose."

xi. Click the plus or + sign next to "Except if" in the "Rules" window.

xii. Under "Except If," click "From," and choose "Subject."
1. Then click the white text box under "Except If."

xiii. Click the plus or + sign at the bottom of the "Search list" window.

xiv. Enter "911" (without quotes) in the "Search list" window, and press Enter/Return.

xv. Select "911" in the "Search list" window, and click "OK."

xvi. Click "OK."

xvii. Close "Rules" window to save new "Bb Learn student emails" rule.

xviii. Click the "Save" button to save your rule changes and new rule.

xix. You're done!
(c) Example 2: *SPAM* subject to Junk folder email rule: Click the link below to see instructions for how to create a rule that will send any email with *SPAM* in the subject line to your junk mail folder (in case somehow such emails don't make it there after you mark them as junk normally).
i. Cick "Home" in the upper left.

ii. Click the "Rules" icon.

iii. Click the "Edit Rules" option under the "Rules" icon.

iv. In the "Rules" window, enter "*SPAM* in subject emails" (without quotes) for the "Rule name."

1. Under "When a new message arrives...", click "Subject" and click "Add search terms."

v. Click the plus or + sign in the "Search list" window.

vi. Enter *SPAM* in the text box in the "Search list" window.

vii. Click "OK" in the "Search list" window.

viii. Choose "Move to Folder," and change "None" to "Choose Folder..."

ix. Type in "Junk" (without quotes), click the "Junk Email" folder, and click "Choose."

x. Click "OK" in the "Rules" window.

xi. Close the "Rules" window.
xii. Click "Save" to button to confirm rule changes.

xiii. The *SPAM* subject to junk" rule is now created. You're done!
