Instructions on how to fix dates appearing as 5 digits
If all of a sudden, the dates in your Excel spreadsheet appear as 5 digits, the first thing to do is make the "Show Formulas" button or option under the "Formulas" tap isn't selected/pressed.
If you are having trouble finding this button or option, try the shortcut key combo of Ctrl+` to turn hide formulas again.
` is the backtick symbol, and not a single quote or apostrophe.
Even on a Mac, you will want to use the Ctrl key, and not the Command or Cmd key.
