Important Grade Posting & Automatic 0 Policy

At the start of the quarter or next quarter, refrain from using automatic posting, especially if you pair that with setting all missing grades to 0 automatically.

If you do this, everyone could start with F grades and slowly rise to better grades. You would then have to remove all 0's at first in grade columns, as they appear before you grade.

Weighted Totals (Assignment Groups)

This does NOT refer to student group or team work here yet.

Assignment Groups are how Assignments are grouped together on the "Assignments" page in a Canvas course section. One Assignment Group is always called "Assignments".

Create a new "Assignment Group"

1. Click "+Group" to make a new Group
   1. (First time here? Likely need to cancel or exit out and repeat above steps)
2. Then, click the upper right 3 dots or : (top of page, next to "+Assignments")
3. Click "Assignments Group Weight"
4. Set percentage for how much that group of assignments should be

Ignore a # of the Highest/Lowest Scores (Assignment Groups)

Still not talking about student group work or team work here

1. Scroll down & find an Assignment Group on the "Assignments" page
2. Click 3 dots or : (Next to Assignment Group)
3. Then click Edit
   1. Choose # of highest/lowest scores to ignore
   2. Rename if wanted

Deleting Unused/Empty Assignment Groups

These are the BOXES on the ASSIGNMENT PAGE! NOT the People page!

• CAREFULLY delete Assignment Groups by clicking the 3 dots (vertical ellipsis or ⋮) next to Assignment Group names
• ... CAREFULLY (think twice at least) click "Delete"
• MAYBE Choose to MOVE assignments WHEN deleting Assignment Groups... ...unless you are 100% sure!
