Tagged with: blackboard bblearn

The instructions below tell you how to download "Full Grade Center" from Bb Learn to your computer.

  1. Click "Grade Center" under the "Control Panel" in the left-hand course menu in your Bb Learn course.
  2. Click "Full Grade Center."
  3. Click "Work Offline."
  4. Click "Download."
  5. From the "Select Data to Download" area, select if you want all of "Full Grade Center," a "Selected Column" (and select the column and check if you want comments from this column), or "User Information Only."
    1. UPLOADING COMMENTS? You must select 1 and only 1 column to download, and select the option to include associate comments. These comments will only appear in Bb Learn's Full Grade Center's Quick Comment or Manual Override areas, and not for comments entered in "View Attempt" or other grading pages. But comments entered into Quick Comment and Manual Override columns comments will FOR SURE appear to students.

    3. NOTE: The formatting information is not exactly correct. See below for how to format comments in the downloaded file.
  6. Under "OPTIONS," choose what type of file you want, "Comma" (for a .csv file) or "Tab" (for a tab-delimited Excel or .xls file). Either option will open in Excel, but the "Tab" option will initially give an error when you open the file.
  7. Under "OPTIONS," decide if you want to "Include Hidden Information."
    1. If you do include hidden information, users or columns that you have hidden from your own view will be included in the download.
    2. Students who have dropped the course will not be included with this hidden information.
  8. Under "SAVE LOCATION," select "My Computer."
  9. Click "Submit."
  10. Click "DOWNLOAD."
  11. Save the file to a location on your computer.
  12. Open the file on your computer
    1. If you chose the "Tab" option in step #6, then you will get a prompt about how the file format and extension do not match.
    2. Go ahead and click "OK" to open the file anyway.
    3. The file is COMPLETELY SAFE. :-)
  13. UPLOADING COMMENTS?
    1. See (5a) above.
    2. But in the downloaded .csv or .xls file, the "Feedback to User" column that you will see is the column to enter comments into for students to see.
      1. "Grading Notes" is only for notes that Bb Learn Instructors and Teaching Assistants and Graders see.
    3. Again, comments entered in this way will only appear in Bb Learn's Full Grade Center's Quick Comment or Manual Override areas, and not for comments entered in "View Attempt" or other grading pages.
    4. In the downloaded .csv or .xls file, the "Feedback Format" and "Notes Format" columns are where you specify the format of the respective "Feedback to Learner" and "Grading Notes" columns. Enter 1 of the following 3 words or phrase in those fields: Smart text, Plain text, HTML.
      1. SMART_TEXT - Links are made clickable, Enter/Return is interpreted as new paragraph (<p> or HTML paragraph tag), and you can enter in HTML tags if you want.
      2. PLAIN_TEXT - Just text. No formatting/bold/italics/hyperlinks. No line breaks or new lines or paragraphs are preserved. HTML tags are rendered as the actual HTML code.
      3. HTML - For coding it all in HTML. Enter what you would enter between <body> tags.
