What is Discord

"Discord is an instant messaging and VoIP social platform which allows communication through voice calls, video calls, text messaging, and media and files. Communication can be private or take place in virtual communities called 'servers'. A server is a collection of persistent chat rooms and voice channels which can be accessed via invite links. Discord runs on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, iPadOS, Linux, and in web browsers." - Wikipedia

In other words, Discord is an instant messaging social media platform that utilizes "Servers" to allow groups of people to interact through USUALLY messages, but also voice calls, or video calls. Discord also allows the use of private messaging, and group chats allowing users to interact in a variety of ways.

How do I sign up?

Discord is free to sign-up. See https://discord.com/ to create an account. Discord can be used in a browser, downloaded as a Desktop Application, or downloaded on Mobile from your App Store.

How is Discord being used at CCI?

Discord is very popular among college aged populations. CCI believes the use of a Discord server will help students learn about events, meet other students, and see important information for their CCI courses.
