Conference Call by Drexel Telephone -- Article Listing

  • A standard telephone conference call with up to 6 people (5 + the original caller) can be performed from any Drexel-issued phone in a Drexel office or conference room.
  • Get all participants phone numbers who you need to call. There's no dependable way to allow people to call in.

Conferencing with Nortel Office Telephones for Individuals

  1. Here is an example of the standard Nortel office telephone giving to individual staff and faculty members here at Drexel.

  2. Call the 1st participant as you would normally, using this phone.
    Non-Drexel US number? Dial 9 + 1 + phone number.
  3. Once you have greeted the first participant, tell them you will put them on hold.
  4. Press the button under "Conf" on the phone display.

  5. Dial phone number of next participant.
    If participant is unavailable: Press "Goodbye" button. Return to original call by pressing button next to blinking phone icon.
    If participant is available: Greet participant, and tell them you will put them on hold.
  6. Press button under "Conf" again.
    All parties can talk to one another now.
  7. Repeat step 5 for any additional participants (up to 5 participants possible).

Conferencing with Nortel Speakerphones for Conference Rooms

  1. Here is an example of the Nortel speakerphone found in most of CCI conference rooms.

  2. Press the green speaker/horn button on the phone.
  3. Call the 1st participant.
    Non-Drexel US number? Dial 9 + 1 + phone number.
  4. Once you have greeted the first participant, tell them you will put them on hold.
  5. Press the button under "Conf" on the phone display.
  6. Dial phone number of next participant.
    If participant is available.
    Greet the participant, and tell them you will put them on hold.
    If participant is unavailable, or you make a dialing error
    Press red phone-hangup button
    Press the green speaker/horn button on the phone.
    If you need to call the same participant or another participant, press the button under "Conf" on the phone display. Then dial that person's number. 
    Non-Drexel US number? Dial 9 + 1 + phone number.
  7. Press the button under "Conf" again.
    All parties can talk to one another now.
    Repeat step 5 for any additional participants (up to 6 participants possible, which is 5 + the original caller).
