Bb Collaborate Ultra -- Connect to a Projector or Monitor Wirelessly

Introduction

This is a work-around solution for instructors when you are having trouble displaying your laptop on the front projector or monitor in a CCI classroom.

To do this, you will use *BOTH* your laptop & the podium PC.

On the Podium PC

  1. Set the podium PC to display on the front monitor or projector.
    Do this even though you are presenting from your laptop.
  2. Login to your Bb Learn course section.
  3. Click Student Preview icon in upper right to activate your "Student Preview" user.
    Instructions, if needed:

  4. Click "Course Tools" in left navigation panel.
    No "Course Tools"?
    Click "Exit Preview."

  5. Click "Blackboard Collaborate Ultra" in left navigation panel.
  6. Click "Get launch link."
  7. Click "Join Course Room."
  8. Close prompts for help or tutorials.
  9. Do not activate audio or video.
    Unless you have live remote students attending online.

On your Laptop

  1. Login to your Bb Learn course section.
  2. Click "Course Tools" in left navigation panel.
  3. Click "Blackboard Collaborate Ultra" in left navigation panel.
  4. Click "Get launch link."
  5. Click "Join Course Room."
  6. Close prompts for help or tutorials.
  7. Do not activate audio or video (no matter what).
  8. Share your laptop's entire display in Bb Collaborate Ultra.
Below are the steps to follow to share your laptop display:
  1. Click purple arrow in lower right.
  2. Click square with curved arrow in lower right.
  3. Click "Share Application."
  4. Click "Enter Desktop" (or the like).
    Choose a monitor (if asked).
  5. Click "Share."
  6. (First time use only for laptop users.) Allow web browser to install a plugin or extension or add-on.
    For example:
    In Chrome, repeat steps c-e again.
    In Firefox, re-enter the Ultra session.
  7. Allow web browser to share your laptop display.
    You may need to actually select this option in a pop-up window or prompt in your web browsr.
  8. The "infinity effect" is a good sign.
  9. Open a new tab to hide infinity effect.
